Treasure Valley artists Lisa Flowers Ross and Carlos Palacio will showcase their artwork in a joint exhibit running September 10 through October 7 in Meridian City Hall’s Initial Point Gallery.

Lisa Flowers Ross is an artist who uses mostly hand-dyed fabrics and stitching, in the manner of quilting, to create her wall art. Her exhibit will feature her abstractions based on nature. Carlos Palacio, whose large colorful works are primarily done with oil pencil and acrylic, is a disabled Air Force veteran who creates his art partly as rehabilitation. 

An Artist Reception is scheduled for Wednesday, September 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the Initial Point Gallery, where both Ross and Palacio will be on hand to greet gallery visitors and discuss their work.

Initial Point Gallery, administered by the Meridian Arts Commission, is located on the third floor of Meridian City Hall, located at 33 E. Broadway Avenue in downtown Meridian. The gallery is free and open to the public during City Hall’s regular business hours -- Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding major holidays.

A public meeting with information and discussion about our area's natural hazards and emergency preparedness strategies will be held Wednesday, September 15, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Meridian City Hall, located at 33 E. Broadway Avenue in downtown Meridian.

Experts from the Ada County Hazard Mitigation Planning Steering Committee will be present to lead the discussion and answer questions. They will also demonstrate some computerized models that are assisting them in their work.

Struggling to find some free family fun?! Join the University of Phoenix Idaho Campus in Meridian for its "Reinventing Family Time" event in Saturday, September 18, from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm. The address is: 1422 S. Tech Lane (off Overland Road just west of Wahooz Fun Center).
